I love the first day of school, both as a parent and as a teacher. Today one part of me, the mom part of me, got to take my kids to the first day of school in their new school.
They were at times excited and nervous. I felt so bad for them this morning as they were standing in the lines with their new classmates, not knowing a single person. They have gone from being the most popular kids in their grade to not knowing anyone. They were troopers however and off they went. Mat a little more confident than Mike. Mike was so nervous that he tracked me down in the cafeteria 30 minutes into the day to make sure that I was paying for their lunches.
As I went through out my day I kept expecting the phone to ring saying that someone had had a meltdown, it never rang.
When I picked them up, both teachers told me that they did great. Mat got a little nervous when he had to leave to go to the bathroom because he didn't know where it was. Mike did awesome, he teacher said he was great.
So another school year has started and so far we are off to a great start.
On May 2, 2001 a husband and wife became a mother and a father.
On March 20, 2002 a judge legally made them a family
On April 20, 2002 a father and mother and two little boys entered the
Las Vegas temple and all dressed in white became an eternal family.

The First Day of School
So today was the first day of school for the boys. When I went to wake them up, Mat had to drag himself into the shower then it was trama drama because *gasp* Mik has more new clothes on his side of the closet. It wasn't that he has more clothes it's that I hang all of the coats and jackets on that side so it looks like more. Then the brand new shoes that we bought two weeks that were a size to big, he could barely get his foot in them. He hadn't put them on since the day we bought them. Then we had to do his hair which he hated, hey if he wants it long it has to be done. Then finally he was ready to go.
Mik on the other hand was the complete opposite. When I woke them up I told them to get into the shower, Mat stumbled into the shower whereas Mik jumped out of bed and gathered up his clothes and shoes, ate breakfast and pestered Mat to get out of the shower. Where Mat took a 20 minute shower Mik took a 5 minute shower. He was dressed and waiting by the car before Mat had his shoes on.
Oh the joys of school. Tomorrow Mike gets to do the morining routine as I will be at school.
