Memorial Day is a United States Federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (in 2008 on May 26). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who perished while in military service to their country. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War, it was expanded after World War I to include casualties of any war or military action.

So Saying that here are those that we are honoring from our family...

End of School Party

Today is the last day of school. Yesterday the boys had their annual end of school picnic at the park. They had a blast at least until the 50 mile an hour winds showed up. The best part of the picnic was when the fire truck showed up. Here are some pics from the day.

Mat

Yesterday at school they awarded Mat with the National Physical Fitness Award. This is a huge award. We are so proud of him. I am kind of irritated with the school though because we were never told that he was getting it. If we had we would have gone and taken pictures of him getting it.

Mondays - Dancing w/ the Stars, and the Bachelor
Tuesday - Dancing, American Idol, Hell's Kitchen
Wednesday - American Idol
Thursday - Survivor

And these are the ones that we let the boys watch. I never realized that we watched so much. Oh well.

My Brother Daniel

!7 years ago today, my youngest brother at the time was killed in an accident. He was a great little boy. He died 3 months before his 4th birthday. He was an amazing little boy, and the best of us.

Daniel was born at home (not on purpose, my dad didn't think that my mom was in hard labor until he crowned). He was so full of life. He loved to be around other kids, he would sneak out of the house and go across the street to the elemantry school to be with the kids.

One day I came home from school and he had sneaked out of the babysitters house and walked home 12 blocks away. He had decided that he was ready to go home, and so had gone home. The babysitter got to my house as I did. He was watering the lawn.

Every morning he would crawl into my bed and snuggle me, before I had to get up and get ready for school.

The day he died he knew that he was going to die, I believe as he told everyone in the family he loved us.

By 10 am that day he was gone.

At that moment I had never been so grateful that my parents had married in the temple and that we have a forever family.

I miss you Daniel.
